The royal family and Natalie arrive, and the offenders' plot to kidnap the prince is revealed to Natalie's shock. Mr. Prescott, per Kevin's advice, resigns from his position as her butler. Grateful to Kevin for his foiling of the kidnapping plot, the royals spend Christmas with the newly-reunited McCallisters, devastating Natalie as Kevin and Prescott give the commands for music to play and snow to fall.

Air Force Recruitment Center about the discovery and asks if they can forward the information about the chip to the right authorities. While it may not have been as popular as the first two movies starring Macaulay Culkin, the third ‘Home Alone’ has all the elements of a great holiday flick, including a witty 8-year-old and a beautiful family home where he lays traps for the bad guys. And just in case you were wondering, here’s where you can find that home in real life.

The film takes place in the fictional town of Shermer, Illinois. Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Samantha Baker from Sixteen Candles and John Bender and all his detention mates from Breakfast Club. Hughes returned time and time again to the North Shore area of Illinois for his films; he thought of all his characters as living in the same universe, but Shermer was special. In December 2021,Airbnb listed a one-night stay in the actual Home Alone house. According to the listing, Kevin's big brother Buzz—whose role in Disney+'s Home Sweet Home Alone remake found him growing up and becoming a security expert—will serve as your "host."

Beaupre gets one from a boxing glove in the foyer's closet, causing him to fall on his gun. Then there's Alice giving one to Jernigan with a crowbar by mistake while trying to hit Doris the rat. It is implied the mob boss is a high-ranking member of the organization, disguised as a Hong Kong-based South Korean businessman. The unnamed Mob boss is the overarching antagonist of the 1997 film Home Alone 3. Verified reviews are considered more trustworthy by fellow moviegoers.

The thieves finally deduce that Alex has been watching them and decide to break into his house. Alex rigs the house with booby traps with help from his pet rat Doris and his brother's loud-mouthed parrot. Beaupre, Alice, Jernigan and Unger break in, spring the traps, and suffer various injuries. While the four pursue Alex around the house, he flees and rescues Mrs. Hess, who has been duct taped to a chair in her garage by Alice. Beaupre ambushes Alex, but the latter uses a bubble gun resembling a Glock to scare him off. As Peter, Kate, Buzz, and Megan arrive, Kevin — with Buzz and Megan's help — prevents a final escape attempt from Marv and Vera.

Whereas 2 went too dark and violent, 3 goes too cartoonish and slapstick. Where the first film thought small, with just a pair of common burglars, 3 goes big, with a team of international terrorists. Still, the film's beginning shows some cleverness in setting up a new, original home alone situation, but it quickly devolves into garbage. The main problem with Home Alone 3 is that it's so pacified that it doesn't have the darkness or edginess needed to believe that these are real characters, or that this situation is dangerous. Four high-tech industrial spies are trying to smuggle out a top secret military microchip to North Korea.

“It was a big deal having the movie filmed here, and it’s still a big deal. Any time I’m walking by that house, I see someone out in front, taking pictures.” As you can imagine, traffic picks up during the Christmas season when the movie takes place. While a large portion of the movie was filmed on a soundstage, shots of the home’s interior can still be found in the film. The scenes of the foyer’s grand staircase and the living room were the real-life Home Alone house. There were, however, some tiny changes made to facilitate some scenes in the film. For example, new wallpaper was added to make the house more festive.

The duo is then tricked by Kevin with a secret wall switch, ends up being launched onto a chandelier, and are knocked unconscious by their fall. Molly, having escaped, grabs Kevin, but is quickly knocked out by Mr. Prescott who also escaped via the dumbwaiter shaft and calls the police. "So while we’re away on vacation , I’m inviting one crew of mischief makers to let their inner eight-year-olds run free in my childhood home on Dec. 12." The iconic movie house from Home Alone, at 671 Lincoln Ave., in suburban Winnetka, is still standing today. While it's not currently for sale, according to Zillow, it last sold in 2012, for $1.5 million.

The new owners may have done renovations to the home since then, but from the outside, it looks the same. The filmmakers rented the family an apartment to stay in while they worked, but the family decided to return home after a few nights. They kept to the master suite on the second floor while the film crew worked downstairs, allowing the family to periodically interact with Macaulay Culkin and the other cast members. At the time of filming, the Abendshien family lived in the Winnetka house.
The arrangement went well for the most part, except for the time when dad John, returning home, pulled his car into the driveway and walked in as a scene was being filmed. Not only that, but the crew had to take care to avoid having his car and tire marks in the snow footage they were shooting. For decades now, people have visited the “Home Alone House” on Lincoln Avenue. “Most people who live on the street love it, and think it’s a lot of fun,” one nearby resident said in 2019.

"Many Christmases ago, the McCallisters went to Paris–well, most of us," the listing reads. "Though we’re older and wiser now (I’ve even got my own security firm), we’re never too old for holiday hijinks. So while we’re away on vacation , I’m inviting one crew of mischief makers to let their inner 8-year-olds run free in my childhood home." The Home Alone house is located in Winnetka, Illinois, about 16 miles outside of the Windy City, and most of the film was shot in that area. The home itself was used for its brick exterior, although the movie also used interior shots in the living room and the foyer’s now-famous grand staircase. It was filmed in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois, with the airport scenes in the beginning of the film being shot at two different concourses at O'Hare International Airport.
They’d met the film’s location manager when they lived in Evanston. At first, the location manager expressed interest in using their Winnetka home for the Hughes film Uncle Buck, but that didn’t work out. Over a year passed before the Abendshiens were asked to use the house for Home Alone. “We would have not believed back then that there would be sightseers coming to look at that house for years afterward,”John Abendshien told Vanity Fair in 2020.
